A few weeks back I noticed that The Villages quietly changed the amount listed for amenity fees on their website from $145 to $159 per month.
This week, with a letter from the Developer to the District, they made it official.
The change will apply to sales of new homes that go to contract on or after October 1, 2018 and resales that close on or after the same date.
Amenity fees for everyone else will of course go up over time, with changes tied to the Consumer Price Index (CPI).
Just for reference, back when I wrote the first edition of my book in 2008, the amenity fee was $130 per month. [Villages-News]
In other news…
Both candidates for Florida governor were supposed to be in The Villages on Saturday, but both changed their plans after Hurricane Michael ravaged the Panhandle earlier this week.
Democrat Andrew Gillum was supposed to speak Saturday to the The Villages Democratic Club at 1 p.m. at Savannah Center, and Republican Ron DeSantis was supposed to be at an event that begins at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Laurel Manor Recreation Center. No word yet on when or if either event will be rescheduled. [Villages-News]
One complaint I often hear from people moving to Florida and considering The Villages is that it's so far from the beach. This week I read an article on some of the beach clubs that plan regular beach outings that might interest you. [The Villages]
I've mentioned before that Blue Fin is now open at Brownwood. Here's a review from my buddy Skip Smith's wife:
