VP Mike Pence was in town briefly this week to attend a fundraising dinner for Florida Governor Rick Scott, who is running for U.S. Senate.
The event was closed to the media, but Pence shared some images on his Twitter feed:

The success and growing subscriber base of The Villages Daily Sun, was the topic of a recent article in The New York Times. Titled “Print is Dead? Not Here” the article says that in a time that most newspapers are shrinking or even going out of business, “the Sun’s weekday circulation of 55,700 is up 169 percent since 2003. Over the same time, weekday newspaper circulation across the United States has dropped 43 percent. (The Orlando Sentinel, the region’s largest newspaper, is down 53 percent.)” [The New York Times]
Bye, Guy! Popular Food Network personality Guy Fieri’s American Kitchen and Bar has closed at Lake Sumter Landing. Right from the start the restaurant was panned on most community forums and review sites for poor service and low quality of food. The same spot previously housed Honest John's Whiskey and Provisions, and before that, TGI Friday's occupied the space. [Villages-News]
