Cody’s Original Roadhouse at Lake Sumter Landing

Cody's Original Roadhouse offers one of the most exciting atmospheres around when it comes to dining in The Villages. The entire restaurant is decked out in auto-theme memorabilia, including the gas pump handles on the front door. The decor is an ironic twist considering the amount of golf carts that are generally parked outside! Speaking of outside, the outdoor patio offers a fantastic dining experience overlooking Lake Sumter.

Located at Lake Sumter Landing, Cody's is a moderately priced casual restaurant that specializes in American BBQ style food, or what they refer to as “plain good food.” Like any traditional American roadhouse, there are peanuts everywhere in this place. Feel free to toss your shells right on that floor, as is tradition here.

The Menu

For starters, Cody's offers common menu items like regular or boneless wings, cheese fries, nachos, and cheese sticks. They also offer buffalo shrimp that can be ordered in three different levels of heat, but their number one most popular appetizer is their monster onion rings served on a wooden stick.

As far as lighter meals go, the menu features a full array of salads, burgers, and sandwiches. Salads can be topped with grilled chicken, breaded chicken, steak or salmon. The burgers are a full half-pound of meat that is topped with two slices of cheese, and there are also grilled and breaded chicken sandwiches available. Many reviewers have suggested checking out the $2 Burger Special for patrons who sit at the bar.

For bigger dinner options, Cody's is the place for fresh fish, steak, and ribs. The menu contains salmon, tilapia, and shrimp entrees as well as pork chops and ribs. There are also multiple cuts of steak and plenty of chicken entrees.

No matter what you are craving, there is likely something for you on this menu. If the grandkids are in tow there is also a very reasonably priced kids menu.

The Drink Menu

In addition to an outstanding food menu, Cody's Original Roadhouse also has an impressive drink menu. They have eleven beers on tap, and more than 20 beers available in bottles. There is also a wine list featuring multiple reds and whites.

Cody's is well known for their creative specialty drinks, including: Cody's Colada, Blazing Blue Rita, Pina Colada, Margaritas, Rum Runners, Strawberry Daiquiris, and Mudslides. This makes Cody's a great place to relax after a long day of golf or hanging out at Lake Sumter Landing.

Specials

In addition to the already reasonably prices menu items, Cody's also has some outstanding daily specials. Probably the most impressive of these is Buy One Get One Free Fajitas every Wednesday night. There is also a sirloin steak special every Thursday, and kids under 10 eat for free every Monday and Tuesday. Cody's also features daily early bird and happy hour specials.

If you're looking for take-out or catering, Cody's can help you with that too. They offer a full takeout menu, complete with peanuts and can cater events for anywhere from 50 to 1000 or more people.

If you aren't in the mood for formal dining, Cody's Original Roadhouse offers a great alternative. The relaxed, casual atmosphere and reasonable prices will leave both you and your wallet completely satisfied. When it comes to casual BBQ in The Villages, Cody's is THE place to be!
