This week's video comes from The Villages Newcomers. Jerry and Linda took a golf cart ride down to the newer areas under construction and in addition to some great views, they also share some terrific golf cart navigation and road safety tips. Well worth a watch!
Here's what else I'm reading this week:
Governor DeSantis was in The Villages this week to announce the reopening of the Barnstorm Theater at Brownwood Paddock Square, which is great because lots of people have been asking when it was going to reopen.
Unfortunately, you're not going to be able to catch the Ryan Reynolds comedy “Free Guy”, the Aretha Franklin biopic “Respect, or even Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson turn in Disney's “Jungle Cruise”.
Instead, The Barnstorm Theater is being used as a monoclonal antibody treatment center to treat Covid-19 patients.
Getting treatment to those who need it is great, but this probably wouldn't have been my first choice for location. I guess that's why these other people get paid the big bucks.
They say they can treat upwards of 300 people per day there, and the treatments are free, though insurance may be billed if you have it. Popcorn and Junior Mints are not included.

Not everyone agrees with the choice of location. What's to stop a Covid-19 patient from popping in for a bite to eat at one of the many restaurants around Brownwood after their treatment?

In the early days of The Villages, the favored slogan went something like “Live like a millionaire on a retirement budget”. Now, many years later, people are literally tearing down million dollar homes to make way for bigger, better, more expensive ones.

A small victory this week for those against more apartments being built in The Villages:

That’s all for this week. Stay safe out there!
