Mardi Gras was a no-go in New Orleans this year due to the pandemic, but The Villages plays by a different set of rules.

Here’s a video from longtime reader Darryl Kenyon of the festivities in Spanish Springs:

Speaking of Spanish Springs. You might recall that last year we talked quite a bit about The Villages wanting to put apartments in Spanish Springs.

Well, at least for now, those plans have been shot down by the Lady Lake Commission.

In other Spanish Springs news, Augustine’s 1812 House, which took over the space previously occupied by Demshar’s Restaurant, was recently featured in a video put out by The Villages:

Not to be outdone by its counterpart to the north, Lake Sumter Landing also has some news this week…Old Mill Playhouse is reopening.

  1. Love the Mardi Gras video! As a South Louisiana girl, I can’t wait to move to the villages and enjoy the company of like minded, fun loving folks.

  2. I guess COVID-19 doesn’t exist in Spanish Springs…looking at the maskless residents walking around, I’d never think there was a pandemic going on in Florida and the rest of the world. Not counting the performers, I saw less than 10 residents in the video wearing their masks. Doesn’t The Villages enforce mask-wearing for public events?
