Big Trouble in (Little) Lake Deaton!
A few weeks ago I told you about some illegal tree clearing that had been done in a protected wetland behind a few homes in Lake Deaton.
An arrest has been made!
Contractor arrested in unlawful tree removal from protected wetland in The Villages (Villages-News)
Right about this time of year, I start getting a bunch of emails from people who (not knowing what we know) would like to come down in March or April to rent a place for a few weeks and check the place out 😉
Most years, this is a pretty laughable ask, as that's the busy season which means low availability and high rents.
But maybe not this year. Because of the pandemic, some people still aren't traveling to Florida or The Villages like they do in most years, so it seems like there might be a few more rentals on the market.
Rusty Nelson, whose videos we've been follow since his very first call to The Villages to set up his lifestyle preview visit, is renting a place in March, and I think you'll learn a lot from the research he's done and put into this video:
Also, here's my article on finding a rental: https://www.insidethebubble.net/rentals/
A few weeks ago I shared a list of the 25 Best Places to Retire in Florida.
Since everyone seems to be enjoying video/youtube lately, I turned the list into a video countdown:
That's all for now!
See you next week,

Ryan, I was interested in your weather comments. Using terms like miserable and oppressive though accurate on the surface don’t compare them to the weather elsewhere. The bottom line for me is the sun shines all the time here, as opposed to my hometown of Pittsburgh which was always gloomy. Is over 90 degrees worse than below 20 degrees?

Very helpful Ryan. I am a retired college professor and when my wife and I are vaccinated in February, plan to travel by road to Ocala to check the Villages and On Top of the World and hope to move there by Fall of 2021 after selling our house in California. Do you know if we can get a better deal if we pay cash?
Thanks.,
Enrique

Shouldn’t whoever hired the contractor to cut down the trees be arrested too? This does not seem fair that the blame is solely put on him!

Well, when you have a project done, do you, yourself verify the permits? I thought it seemed a little unfair too until I read that he was warned early on into the project, and then returned the next day to keep on doing what he was doing. He was not an innocent in this fiasco.

I have been reading The Bubble for several years. Thank you for it and for the information you provide about some of the other communities. You are tremendously helpful.
