I continue to track all the latest news and updates as it relates to coronavirus in The Villages.
You can read this week’s coronavirus updates here.
As I mentioned last week, the Town Squares open back up with Live Entertainment on Monday, October 5.
My question to you is, are you going?
Let me know in the comments down below!
The apartments topic…just…won't…go…away.
This week a Villages Exec answered some frequently asked questions about The Villages' future plans for apartments like “Why Spanish Springs?”, “Will tenants pay amenity fees?” and more.

Also this week, a handful of lucky residents became the first Villagers to “officially” cross the new Chitty Chatty bridge. Take a look:
About a year ago I was chatting with a buddy who I would describe as a BBQ aficionado.
He makes his own brisket, ribs, and is always experimenting with different kinds of rubs and sauces.
I asked him, “so other than your own stuff, where do you like to go for really good BBQ?”
I have to tell you, his answer surprised me: Mission BBQ.
I've never been, but it's a chain with locations in a growing number of states.
The reason I'm telling you about it is they just opened up a location in Lady Lake Commons just outside of The Villages and the founders were on hand for the Grand Opening to present a JAW DROPPING check to the Honor Flight Network.

I definitely need to get over that way soon!
You might be surprised to learn that The Villages developer controls about 60-65% of the resale market, but that leaves quite a few homes that nobody will tell you about or show you, except an outside Realtor like the one I send my readers to.
My readers get priority access to my preferred agent, but if you plan to be in The Villages this Fall or Winter and are thinking about buying a home or seriously looking while you’re in town, let me know as soon as possible so I can set you up with someone who can show you the homes The Villages sales reps simply won’t show you.
Full details can be found here.
Have a great week!

I “heard” the tickets to the town squares “sold out” ( they are free) in the first hour
the REAL issue is freedom to CHOOSE. I go to ballroom dances no mask, with 25 people for the past several months. MOST people here in the villages have quarenteened for 7 months so the relative risk is VERY low.
We are all SELF responsible….. if you have symptoms even of a “cold” STAY home, get tested… period

We will be going to the Squares, We don’t see that it is that much different than eating at an outdoor restaurant. We have lived our lives through this, although with caution. We wear masks, social distance, wash our hand frequently and use tons of hand sanitizer. If when we arrive at the Square it seems to be unsafe, we will leave. No harm, no foul. Tickets are free.
M Gleason says
Chose not to go to town squares or restaurants that now operate at 100% capacity. America’s Friendliest Home Town is just a bit too friendly during the pandemic.
LF Haines says
Not planning to go to the squares or restaurants until we are 100% safe.

My Wife & I are planning a second visit to the Villages hopefully in the next 6 months .
We spent 2 days in Spanish Springs back in Dec.2018
Our realtor Nannette Elli showed us several New Homes , but after reading your column I’m very much
interested in the homes that most realtors do not show .
We’re waiting for the air to clear before scheduling our next visit , in the meantime , gathering as much
info as possible .
Thanks Ryan

Our nephew had Cov-19 earlier this year and it was quite an ordeal for him (and his immediate family). Now he still has ongoing major health issues from it. Last month, he was in a medically-induced coma for three weeks with congestive heart failure and pneumonia. He’s home again but is always tired. He’s only in his 40s. This virus is real and is hard on ALL ages. We wanted to share what he is still going through. Please everyone stay safe, wear a mask when around others, and sanitize often.
Em says
Thank you for sharing. Will pray for your nephew. And yes everyone needs to be aware and careful and not take this virus for granted. Including the government,

This is without a doubt an incredible bridge. We has a couple of homes in the Villages and we are now back here in Pasco County but we are thinking about moving back to the Villages but cannot put our house up for sale until maybe after the holidays. We have family visiting for the next couple of months. But we did love the Villages very much and we will see.
Kenny Combs says
Love what you are doing. Hope one day to be a Villager!!

I believe you also publish a book on other places to live in Florida- if so how do I order it?

Mission BBQ – Lady Lake Commons – thanks

I will be coming down to Florida in January of 2021. I will be looking for property to purchase. The Villages is high on my list of places to visit.. What do I need to do to reserve time to view the community. I am a single male 76 years old. Not sure if I want single housing or something else.
Larry Cox says
I hear rumors of an apartment complex being built where the Hacienda Hills restaurant and pool used to be. Any truth to that?
Fernando Batlle says
If a person lives in the vicinity of The Villages, which facilities within The Villages would be either off limits or would require special payments?
Bill Tyndall says
public streets, town squares and Championship golf courses are open to the public. The public has no access to the T-time system, however, so you can only make t-time day of play. Shops and eateries around the squares are also public facilities.
Dorothy Flaak says
Although we do not plan to go to the squares once opened, because of the pandemic, we do think it’s a good idea that people have to bring their own chairs. This not only eliminates the need for TV to disinfect them but should take care of the hoarding/saving of chairs issue.
DeeDeeH says
Agree wholeheartedly!
Roy Fielding says
Not yet still too soon!
Rex Butler says
I’m planning on it but I hate having to go get tickets😡
CB says
Not going to a Square……. yet! I’d love to live in an apartment in Lake Sumter Landing when I’m tired of having a house.
Joan Honig says
We will not go to the town squares and if the restaurants open up 100% with no social distancing we will no longer go to the restaurants. The Villages should take a lesson from what happened to President Trump. You cannot under estimate the spread of this disease.

Ryan. … I always look forward to your weekly updates… we will not be going to the town squares for music & food until this virus cov-19 is at a safer point…. still to many chances to get this nasty awful virus! People are not following rules to get this 🦠 virus controlled!!! We have family members that have gotten the virus & are still suffering with so much problems….. it does some really nasty stuff to your bodies. These people are young also…..
So be careful….. 😷😷😷😷
Thanks again Ryan !!
