Based out of Tampa, Steel Horse has been playing country and rock music since 1993, and the band frequently swings through The Villages.
In that time, the band has seen many ups and downs, but has continued to pursue what they love most, which is playing live music in front of audiences everywhere. The band combines four stellar musicians who all contribute vocally as well playing everything from today's country and rock hits all the way back to the classics.
The Band
The band was put together in 1993 by lead singer and guitarist Jeffrey Hunt. Jeff has been touring the world playing music since 1983 and has opened for Marie Osmond, Merle Haggard, and Neal McCoy, among others. Jeff began learning the guitar at the tender age of five and has been in love with it ever since.
Jeff is originally from Lakeland, Florida. When he isn't playing music, he enjoys golfing, cooking, and throwing darts along with watching NASCAR and football. Jeff lists Elvis, Vince Gill, Steve Wariner, The Eagles, and Eddie Van Halen as his musical influences.
Backing Jeff up on bass and vocals is Kelly Hampton, who joined the band in 2006. Kelly brings tremendous experience working with musicians from all genres of music, including R&B, Bluegrass, Rock, and Country. He has worked with some of country music's biggest stars. Kelly lists Victor Wooten as his primary musical influence.
Seasoned road musician Stan Busch is the guy you'll see playing a little bit of everything. He jumps back and forth between the keyboard and the steel guitar while contributing vocals as well. He famously started playing the steel guitar as a hobby, but the band liked it enough to incorporate it into their stage show. Stan is also a studio engineer who is living every musician's dream by owning his own studio.
The fourth member of the Steel Horse Band is Gareth Newman. Gareth is the noisemaker, playing drums as well as all of the other percussion instruments and adding vocals as well. Gareth is the newest member of the band, but is also an accomplished musician known for playing in a variety of clubs.
Any band that is around for almost 20 years is bound to have some interesting experiences, and Steel Horse is no exception. The band has traveled all over the world and has worked with some of the biggest names in music. They have been a part of shows with Neal McCoy, Mark Wills, Clay Walker, Mickey Gilley, Johnny Paycheck, Ronnie Milsap, Waylon Jennings, Crystal Gayle, and Wayne Newton.
Support For The Troops
The band points out on their website that one of their proudest accomplishments was providing support for American soldiers overseas. They toured overseas in 2004 as part of a NATO/USO show that traveled to various parts of England, Norway, Portugal, Italy, and Turkey. Steel Horse was honored to be able to give back to the men and women who keep their country safe.
Come See The Band
The Steel Horse Band is playing at Spanish Springs Town Square this weekend. The band will be taking the stage at 5:00 PM on Saturday, June 29 and is expected to play until 9:00 PM.
But, if you miss this show, I'm sure they'll be back.

Hello just wanted to give you a quick heads up.
The words in your article seem to be running off the
screen in Firefox. I’m not sure if this is a format issue or something
to do with web browser compatibility but I thought I’d post to let you know.
The layout look great though! Hope you get the
problem resolved soon. Cheers telefon sex

There were at Spanish Springs in late May and they were awesome. Bring them back more often.

I have heard them on several occasions, Great music and good vocals… However they need to have more energy on stage. Some of the members stand there with “NO” feeling or emotions. Even though the villages is a retirement community (family) we ARE NOT Dead and still love to have a good time. It would also be nice to have them dress a little professional instead of looking like they are wearing yesterday clothes.

Yes, have heard them once at Brownwood and they were great! Hopefully they will be a “regular” in the Villages in the future.
