The Villages Gets Grant for New Hospital, Internet Speed Questions, and Contractor Sentenced for Illegal Tree Cutting

Luckily for residents, The Villages has a large selection of pools to cool off in on a hot summer day. But it can take new residents a little time to learn the different types of pools available and the ins and outs of each kind.

This video from the Pryde of The Villages YouTube channel is a great primer:

Here’s what else I’m reading this week:

The big news this week was about the grant Lake County is giving The Villages to ensure the new UF Hospital being planned is constructed in Lake County as opposed to Sumter County:

The Villages wants grant for $100 million development with medical center (Villages-News)

Lake commission OKs incentive package for The Villages’ multi-use complex (Daily Commercial)

Lake County Welcomes Villages Expansion, Including New Hospital (The Villages Daily Sun)

This headline definitely caught my eye when I cam across it on Facebook:

The Villager who made more money than Oprah, Bill Gates, and Ross Perot (Lake and Sumter Style)

I spend a ton of time online, so quality internet is important to me. I thought this was a good thread on the topic:

Tech Geek moving to the Villages questions on Internet (Talk of The Villages)

You might remember a few months back I posted about trees being cut in a wetland to enhance the view in back of a few homes, a big no no here in Florida. The contractor was recently sentenced, and it sounds like a pretty weak slap on the wrist if you ask me:

Contractor sentenced in illegal tree-cutting incident in The Villages (Villages-News)
