Don Wiley (aka Gold Wingnut) just reached an incredible milestone, having released his 100th Villages construction update video.
The video itself is fantastic, but more importantly as you'll learn about right at the beginning, it's also an effort to raise funds for the American Cancer Society and the National Brain Tumor Society. I hope you'll join me in supporting Don's mission to raise funds for these two organizations.
Here are links to the two GoFundMe pages he mentions:
Here's what else I'm reading and watching this week:
Some people don't mind seeing young people around the community, and some don't like it at all. Regardless of your feelings on the matter, I don't think the flow of younger people moving to The Villages is going to slow down anytime soon:
- Why are young people moving to The Villages? (Tampa Bay Times)
I played chess with my dad growing up, but hadn't touched the game in years until The Queen's Gambit hit Netflix last year and I went out and bought a new set. Thanks to The Villages Chess Club it's easy to find a game right here in The Villages:
- Chess Mates (Lake and Sumter Style Magazine)
Having witnessed a grandparent's slow decline and death from the disease, I think it's pretty cool that this level of Alzheimer's prevention/treatment is available right here in The Villages:
- Aviv at forefront of Alzheimer’s treatment option (The Villages Daily Sun)
Speaking of health care, the biggest of The Villages Health’s seven primary care centers just opened:
- The Villages Health's Largest Care Center Ready for Patients (The Villages Daily Sun)
After a years long process, the Brownwood Woodworking Shop is now open to members. The Villages Newcomers give us a tour:
- The Villages Brownwood Workshop Opens (YouTube)
That's all for this week!
