Because golf often takes center stage at The Villages, it is often overlooked that the community is also a spectacular place for swimmers and anyone who enjoys spending their time by the pool.
With more than 70 pools to choose from, there is no shortage of options, and all of the facilities are kept in immaculate condition, just as residents of The Villages have come to expect.
All of the pools throughout The Villages are temperature controlled to make sure that the water is comfortable for everyone. There are also three different types of pools: sport pools, neighborhood pools, and family pools.

Sport Pools
The sport pools are incredibly popular among the more active Villagers. At the most basic level, these pools are sized and kept ready for Villagers who enjoy swimming laps. Sport pools are also used for many popular water activities like water volleyball, water aerobics, and various other competitive events.
One of the groups that utilizes the sport pools is the Villages Aquatic Swim Team. This coed swim team is made up of more than 80 Villagers that get together to practice three times per week and then have meets once per month. The team is also known for having regular competitive showdowns with the Villages High School Swim Team.
Another popular group that meets at the sports pools is Aqua-SHYNE, which is a group of women that participate in a water-based exercise program that features stretching, yoga poses, and breathing exercises. The water adds a refreshing element to the yoga-based exercise program.
The most popular water aerobics class is probably the High Nooners, who meet three days a week at the Savannah sports pool. Participants in this class use fun props like water noodles and water dumbbells as aids in different aerobic exercises. Once again, the water adds a refreshing aspect to a traditional aerobic workout.
There are more than a half dozen sports pools located around The Villages. Some of the more popular pools are La Hacienda Regional Recreation Center, Savannah Regional Recreation Center, Lake Miona Regional Recreation Center, and SeaBreeze Regional Recreation Center.
Neighborhood Pools
If you are more interested in relaxing by the pool than exercising in the pool, the neighborhood pools will provide exactly what you are looking for. These quiet and peaceful pools are for adults only. They provide a great place to get together and relax. Many Villagers can be found reading books, sunbathing, or even napping around their local neighborhood pools.

Family Pools
The family pools that are located throughout The Villages are the exact opposite of the neighborhood pools. These pools offer Villagers a great place to bring their visiting children and grandchildren. Swimmers of all ages are welcome to come and play in the family pools, which are filled with noise, splashing, and fun!
There are at least 20 family pools located throughout The Villages. Some of the most popular ones include Allamanda Recreation Center, Bacall Recreation Center, Canal Street Recreation Center, and Captiva Recreation Center.
As with most everything in The Villages, the community provides its residents with nearly unlimited options when it comes to swimming pools. No matter what type of pool experience you are looking for, there are a handful of pools that will meet those requirements, and odds are pretty good that there is one nearby!
